Pay It Forward
November 24, 2009
To meet Mr. Walter Bruce of Greenville, South Carolina, to spend just a few precious moments in his company, far exceeds anything this world can offer to brighten the darkest of days, the gloomiest of moods, lifting spirits soaring. Such is the nature, the person of Mr. Bruce, who for many years until his retirement had been a faithful Customer of Eastern—and a Friend for Life.
Peru Mission Trip
November 9, 2009
This past October I had the opportunity to go to the Village of Manzano, in the Panoa Region of Peru, deep in the Andes Mountains. Our mission was to conduct reading workshops with the Quechua Indians. These people have a spoken language but no written language. Terry and Karla Smith, a missionary team living in the region for over 25 years, developed a written language for the Quechua. With the help of Wycliffe Bible Translators, the Smiths have translated the New Testament into Quechuan and are currently working on the Old Testament, so that these people have the opportunity to know the Lord through the written word.
Happy Halloween from Eastern!
October 30, 2009
Each year Associates are invited to participate in some Halloween fun. Associates can choose to dress up in costume and/or carve a pumpkin. The pictures of each entry are then uploaded to our internal intranet for all Associates to vote.
Partnering with MHM
October 28, 2009
Eastern recently had the opportunity to help Miracle Hill Ministries (MHM), which is involved in several areas of ministry throughout Greenville and the Upstate of South Carolina. MHM operates a boys shelter, children’s home, women’s shelter, and a rescue mission that supplies food and shelter for the homeless. They have many programs within these arms of ministry to serve the community.
