Making Christmas Special
December 30, 2010
For fifteen years, Ms. Lenora Cuddy, a volunteer with Miracle Hill Ministries (MHM) in the Upstate of South Carolina, has spearheaded a special mission to provide “Christmas” for the children who have been placed – some temporarily, some permanently - at the MHM Children’s Home. These children are the innocent victims of troubled circumstances, and through this project, they are able to experience the blessing of Christmas in a very special way.
Volunteers, including ladies from Eastern's Corporate office, are given a wish list for each child and a specific amount of donated dollars to shop for clothes, shoes, toys, and other items that the kids desire. These items are wrapped and bundled together in large gift bags, and a special delivery is made by Santa and Mrs. Claus with their helpers a few days before Christmas.
This year, gift bundles were given out to forty children, both boys and girls, ranging in age from two to eighteen.
A generous donation from the Eastern Cares Fund was matched by the Company to sponsor this worthwhile endeavor. All involved already look towards Christmas 2011!
